Terms of Service

Last updated 26 September 2026

These terms cover your use of the Subment application and this website. Subment is in early access, so a few of them say so plainly. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't, please don't use Subment.

Early access

Subment is in early access. It works, and people use it, but it is still being built. Features may change or be removed, and there may be bugs and downtime. We'll try to give notice of changes that affect you, but we can't promise it.

Please keep your own copy of anything you can't afford to lose. You can export your subscriptions from the app at any time.

Your account

  • Give us accurate details, and keep them up to date.
  • Keep your password safe, and turn on two-factor sign-in. You're responsible for what happens under your account.
  • You must be old enough to enter a contract where you live, and at least 18.
  • If you use Subment for an organization, you confirm you're allowed to do so on its behalf.

Your content

What you put into Subment (subscriptions, notes, documents, logins and the like) is yours. You give us only the permission we need to store it, protect it, show it to the people you choose, and run the service.

Only store logins, keys and codes you are allowed to hold. Don't store someone else's credentials without their permission.

How we protect it, and what we can't promise

Secrets are encrypted before they're stored, each workspace under its own key. Subment is not zero-knowledge: the service holds what it needs to decrypt a secret when someone authorized asks to reveal it, which is how it can generate 2FA codes and let you share a login. We work to keep the service secure, but no system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee it will never be breached or unavailable.

Acceptable use

Please don't:

  • break the law, or use Subment to help someone else do so;
  • try to get into accounts or workspaces that aren't yours, or probe or attack the service;
  • overload the service, bypass its limits, or create accounts in bulk;
  • upload malware or content you have no right to share;
  • resell or white-label Subment without asking us first.

Workspaces and who owns them

Whoever creates a workspace owns it. When paid plans start, the owner's plan is the one that covers it, and the people they invite don't need a plan of their own. Joining someone else's workspace is free for you.

  • An owner can't leave, be removed or delete their account while other people are in the workspace. They hand it to another admin first.
  • If a workspace ends up with no owner, it becomes read-only. Everyone can still view and export it, and an admin can take it over.

Prices and paid plans

Subment is free while it's in early access, and we don't ask for a card. We plan to introduce paid plans (see the pricing page). If we do:

  • we'll tell you at least 30 days before anything is charged, and nothing will be charged without your explicit agreement;
  • what you've stored will never be deleted or locked because of the plan you're on. You'll always be able to view and export it;
  • the terms of any paid plan, including refunds, will be set out before you agree to it.

Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts the service or other people at risk, and we'll say why where we can. Deleting an account is permanent; the Privacy Policy explains what is removed.

No warranty, and limits on liability

Subment is provided as it is, without promises about availability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, Subment isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits or data, and its total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (which, in early access, is nothing). Nothing here limits liability that can't legally be limited.

Our content

The Subment name, logo, design and text belong to Subment. The product images on the website show a sample workspace with fictional data.

The website and updates list

The marketing website describes the product and our plans, which may change; nothing on it is a promise of a feature, a date or a price. If you ask for updates, we'll email you about paid plans and major changes. You can ask us to stop at any time.

Changes and questions

If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date at the top and tell account holders. Continuing to use Subment after that means you accept the change.

A contact address will be published here shortly. Until then, use the feedback option inside the app.
